JawaPos.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s plan to expand even odd areas in Jakarta has drawn various reactions. Traffic restrictions that are claimed to be successful during the 2019 Asian Games will be expanded to expedite the traffic and control the air pollution. But, citizen mobility and economic impact must be considered by the number one person in the capital city.

Economic Observer Center for International and Strategic Studies (CSIS) Yose Rizal Damuri said that traffic control in Jakarta must pay attention to the economic impacts felt by the community and business world. Do not let the rules make the mobility of the people to be slow so that it causes the economy to slow down.

“On the other hand we want to reduce congestion and control air pollution, but on the other hand, do not make the mobility of the community becoming slow down. In the end the wheels of the economy will be disrupted. Even though we know, Jakarta is the center of government and the national economy, “said Yose in Jakarta (8/13).

Therefore, Yose considered that the exclusion of rules for online transportation is a meeting point of various interests that must be harmonized in the capital. As one of the modes of public transportation that has been licensed and regulated by the government, online taxis should be allowed to operate in even odd areas like other public transportation facilities. This exception was considered by various factors, especially the presence of online taxis which has become a new habit of the community.

“People are familiar with the presence of online transportation. Both in terms of time planning and ease of payment. If people have to change their habits again, How many productive time is wasted? “Yose asked.

According to Yose, actually the people of Jakarta and surrounding areas have various options to meet their transportation needs. With the availability of public transportation such as TransJakarta buses, MRT, KRL, conventional taxis and online taxis, the public has many options to adapt along with the expansion of the even odd zone.

“Even odd arrangements actually limit people’s choices to use public transportation. This will increase the cost of mobility. By providing exceptions to the choice of online taxis, the costs will be lower, so the benefits for consumers will be more, “said Yose.

Yose reminded, the important thing is that the policy of allowing online taxis to enter even odd areas must be clear so that it does not cause confusion on the ground. “There must be coordination with the Department of Transportation and the police, especially the traffic police, so there will be no confusion in its application later,” concluded Yose. *

Previously, Anies said that the online taxi application would be given a special marker so that it could enter the even odd areas. Because at this time only public transportation with a yellow plate is excluded from even-odd rules. Therefore, Anies said it needed a marker for vehicles with black plates which also functioned as public transportation.

“The black plate, there is no sign yet. Now there are signs being prepared so that later vehicles that do work as transportation services can also be excluded, “Anies said (9/8).

Anies’s proposal was agreed by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi. He requested that online taxis be able to operate in the restricted area as well as taxis in general. Taxis are public transportation that is excluded from even odd rules.

“If conventional taxis are permissible, they should be, too, that’s what I convey equality,” he said at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Jakarta (11/8).
