Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – Online taxi company Grab continues to monitor the driving style of its partners. As a company that involves partners using motorized vehicles, Grab wants to reduce the number of customer complaints for reports of partner driving patterns that are incorrect.
Unsafe and comfortable driving behavior is one of the factors causing personal accidents and involving other people. This condition is not justified by Grab towards all its partners in Indonesia.
To improve service, Grab uses an application on each partner cellphone that is able to read driving characters such as speeding, sudden brakes. This system summarizes all driving activities appropriately which is then used to correct the driving behavior of Grab partners.
“By collecting GPS data, gyroscopes and accelerometers from the Grab application, the Grab company is able to present driver telematics reports about their driving patterns, including speed, acceleration and braking so they know what they need to improve,” Grab wrote in a statement. officially, Thursday (12/27).
According to Grab, another advantage of the system is that it can read wasteful and aggressive driving behavior. The data is used to correct the driving pattern, so the driver’s partner can finally save on the use of fuel oil (BBM), the use of brake pads and tires.
“Our driver partners see this telematics report as one of the practical tools that helps them to become better drivers. They experience immediate benefits when they can save money by driving more efficiently, which can save their fuel,” explained the Head of Safety and Security Grab, Nicholas Chng.
Grab felt helped by the launch of telematics in March 2017 to improve services to consumers in Indonesia. To improve the driving skills of its partners, Grab often provides proactive training to driver partners if needed.
“This telematics report is part of our broader ‘Safer Travel Technology Roadmap’ initiative, which includes specific measurements with the aim of changing the driving habits of driver partners. An example is monitoring the level of fatigue of driver partners, to encourage long-term behavior change,” Grab explained .
