Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government is requesting online taxi applicators to immediately arrange permits to become a transportation company.
Responding to this, Grab Indonesia has conveyed to the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) that it is still constrained by the rules of the Negative Investment List (DNI) in force in Indonesia.
In Presidential Regulation Number 44/2016 concerning List of Closed Business Fields and Business Fields Opened with Requirements in Investment Sector, the ownership of foreign investors in land transportation companies which are permitted is a maximum of 49%.
For this reason, Budi Setyadi, Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, said that today his party would discuss with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) to get input on how the regulation would not prevent applicators from becoming transportation companies.
“So from Grab, he said he had some foreign capital, he said, there were minimum conditions for becoming a national company. Now I want to go to BKPM today asking for input on how they will not be constrained,” he said on Tuesday (04/10/2018).
Budi said that currently his party is still in the process of making a regulation in the form of a new Ministerial Regulation (PM) which will regulate this issue.
“I asked the applicator so that on Wednesday there would be an answer. The regulation is being made, yesterday we proposed a new PM to accommodate this. If this is done, I hope that the applicator has managed the permit,” he said firmly.
