“For example, if you want to go to Bekasi, the standard rate is 30 thousand rupiahs, then there are various offers listed in the application. There are 25 thousand rupiahs, there are 20 thousand rupiahs, 15 thousand rupiahs and maybe 40 thousand rupiahs …”
BISTAR online transportation application originating from Surabaya is now present in Jakarta.
Unlike some of the online transportation applications that have appeared before, the BISTAR online transportation application comes with quite surprising innovations.
If in other online transportation applications, passengers are required to pay a tariff in accordance with the tariff set by the service provider, at BISTAR passengers are given a choice of up to five different prices and types of vehicles.
“When you want to order, in the application listed choices of the driver’s name along with the vehicle’s price, brand, and year, arrival time and driver’s rating,” said BISTAR Application Founder Miftachul Amin, during a press conference introducing the BISTAR application at The Dutch, 18 Parc Place Tower Tower E Lantai GF, Jl. Jendral Sudirman, Jakarta, Wednesday (09/10/2019).
Meanwhile, from the driver’s side, continued Miftachul Amin, given the freedom to set rates based on distance traveled and the condition of the vehicle owned.
Even so, BISTAR still provides information on the standard fare as a reference for passengers in choosing the desired driver.
“For example, if you want to go to Bekasi, the standard tariff is 30 thousand rupiahs, then there are various offers listed in the application. There are 25 thousand rupiahs, there are 20 thousand rupiahs, 15 thousand rupiahs and maybe 40 thousand rupiahs,” he said.
According to Amin, with these choices, passengers can determine the driver in accordance with their wishes.
“If the tariff is more expensive than the standard rate, maybe because the car brand is expensive,” he said.
Not only that, according to the tagline of BISTAR which is ‘Ride Sharing Application’, each passenger can also determine whether they are willing or not to share a ride with someone else.
“In the application, passengers can choose whether to share with other passengers or not. If not, it means the passenger is alone, just like ordering a private taxi,” Amin said.
He further said, the superiority of the BISTAR application also allows its users not only to use the application as a passenger, but can also be used as a driver.
So, with just one application, users can also register themselves as a driver without having to be bound as an employee in the BISTAR application company.
“To join BISTAR is also very easy. Users only need to fill in the data requested in the application both as a driver and passenger, “said Amin.
“The verification process only takes a matter of minutes. It can take a little time if there is data that is indicated requiring further confirmation,” he added.
Interestingly, besides being free to determine the tariff, drivers are only charged Rp. 3,000 for cars and Rp. 1,000 for motorbikes by operators.
“Discounts from BISTAR for flat, far or near drivers are Rp. 3,000 for cars and 1,000 for motorcycles,” Amin said.
In the meantime, payments for trip rates can only be used in cash. In the future, BISTAR will implement a cashless or non-cash payment system.
As a form of convenience from BISTAR users, both drivers and passengers can complain a variety of complaints through the comments column in the application.
If there is one of the two parties who feels aggrieved, they can send the evidence to BISTAR, for later BISTAR requests clarification from the reported party.
“People who report must include proof of chat, telephone evidence and other evidence. If the evidence provided is sufficient, we will temporarily freeze the application account (reported) until there is clarification (from the reported),” Amin said.
Since 2014, on the 2018 Google Playstore
The BISTAR application was developed since 2014. Then, this application was officially launched at Google Playstore for Android-based smartphones in January 2018.
The following year, January 2019, this application appeared on the App Store for smartphone users based on iOS.
Currently BISTAR application users have reached around 40 thousands and the majority are in Surabaya.
“Although technically this application can be used throughout Indonesia, but because our base camp is in Surabaya and our trial is in Surabaya, the result is that our application is used by many people,” he said.
“It means, this application really works, so when we want to enter Jakarta, we don’t try again,” Amin said again.
