JAKARTA – DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) regrets the confinement that was accompanied by robberies in online taxis against passengers on Tuesday April 24 2018. Thus, online taxi users were asked to be more careful about online taxis because they did not yet have rules.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Andri Yansyah, said that the DKI Provincial Government is only authorized to provide KIR test services and regulate online transportation caught in violating traffic order. According to him, the authority to regulate online transportation is at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
“We can only encourage application businesses to comply with regulations and users more carefully,” Andri Yansyah said when contacted on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Andri explained, the DKI Provincial Government had repeatedly sent a letter to the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) to close the online taxi fleet application that was often hit by control in the field, whether it was parked carelessly or found not to have followed the KIR test during raids.
In fact, said Andri, the KIR test is the only safety standard in public transport operations. He also provided further special services for online taxis that took the KIR test. Unfortunately, in a day, online transportation that follows the KIR test only ranges from one to two units. “We continue to strive to curb online transportation, but limited authority,” he said.
With limited authority, Andri continued, he chose to accelerate public transport services through OK Otrip which would be integrated into settlements. OK Otrip continues to progress despite extended trials.
“With the improvement of public transport services, online taxis will look for us,” Andri said.
Just to note, Santi or Sansan (24) are thought to have been victims of confinement and robbery in GrabCar’s online taxi . As a result, the victim must lose a number of valuable items.
