REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG – Chairperson of Committee II DPD RI, Aji Muhammad Mirza Wardana said that the rapid development of online transportation in recent years has not contributed to regional income. According to Aji, there is a need for rules to be rolled out by the government so that the presence of online transportation, both online taxis and online motorcycle taxis, is also able to provide revenue for the local government.
“As we all know, online transportation has not contributed to foreign exchange at all,” said Aji during the Bill of Validation Seminar on Amendments to Law Number 17 Year 2008 concerning Shipping and Law 22 of 2009 concerning Then Road Traffic and Transportation at Mercure Padang Hotel, Monday (7/15)
Aji said that all this time, the Committee II DPD RI had received a lot of input regarding the increasing need of the regional community for mobility in carrying out daily activities. And it was able to be answered by the existence of online transportation.
In addition to wanting the online transportation company to contribute to regional income, the DPD RI also wants to recommend to the DPR RI so that there are clear rules for the welfare of the drivers of online transportation.
“It must be big if the regulation is working. We also want driver drivers whether ordinary drivers and online drivers get their welfare rights,” Aji said.
Aji hopes that this amendment to Law Number 22 Year 2009 can be completed in 2019 so that the government has strong regulations in regulating the existence of online transportation.
