JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Grab is officially the partner of the 2018 Asian Games international sports event which will take place in Jakarta and Palembang this August. This was stated by Managing Director of Grab Indonesia, Ridzki Kramadibrata.
At present, according to Ridzki, Grab is preparing a number of plans to help smooth the implementation, including locations of passenger pickup and drop off, both in Jakarta and Palembang.
For this one thing, Grab coordinates with the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) and the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (Inasgoc)
“Every week we coordinate. Later there will be traffic engineering and travel during the Asian Games, and certain pick-up and drop-off points will be held,” Ridzki explained, met after odd-even socialization for special rental transportation, in Jakarta on Wednesday ( 5/5/2018) afternoon.
Nevertheless, he has not revealed the details of the location of the point of pick-up and drop-off in question. The total number is still being discussed.
As another preparation, Ridzki said that during the 2018 Asian Games, passengers will be able to pay non-cash, or use Grab Pay.
But he did not explain further, whether this meant that Grab’s electronic money had indeed been fully activated or not. “God willing,” he said briefly. Grab Pay itself was frozen by Bank Indonesia (BI) at the end of 2017. After the freeze, Grab cooperated with OVO, which is an electronic money application owned by Lippo Group which has obtained a license from BI.
As for now, the Grab Pay balance still cannot be topped up. Users can only use it by connecting Grab Pay with a credit card or Mandiri e-Cash.
