TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi confirmed that he would not revoke Minister of Transportation Regulation (PM) No.108 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of People Transportation with Public Motor Vehicles Not in Route.

These rules regulate the operation of online taxis such as the obligation to have such a General SIM A, Test Kir or sticker.

“There is no revocation, freezing or cancellation,” Budi Karya Sumadi said at the Ministry of Transportation office on Monday (2/4/2018).

Budi Karya also urged online drivers to keep abiding by the rules found in PM 108.

“Related to that, PM 108 still applies, so the only legal umbrella gives legitimacy to online drivers in carrying out their operations,” said Budi Karya Sumadi .

Regarding the new rules regarding the operation of online taxis, such as changes in the application company into a transportation company, it is still being discussed whether entering PM 108 or new regulations.

“There are two possibilities. Want to create a new ministerial regulation again or then we will revise it, add it,” said Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Budi Setiyadi when met on the same occasion.

As for now the government is still carrying out a sympathetic operation which is only a reprimand for online taxi drivers who do not comply with the regulations.

During this sympathetic period the driver was given the opportunity to fulfill the requirements before the plan for the end of April was subject to a ticketing system.
