PALEMBANG, – Grab Indonesia regrets the alleged sexual harassment and violence committed by one of the online taxi drivers GrabCar against a student with the initials AN (19) who uses the application in Palembang, South Sumatra.

“All Grab management regrets the occurrence of a crime that allegedly involved one of the GrabCar driver partners in Palembang. Our priority now is to provide the full support and assistance needed by passengers and their families,” said Managing Director Grab Indonesia Ridzki Kramadibrata in a written statement, Monday (05/07/2018) night.

Grab also claimed to have followed the case by gathering information, both from the passenger and driver side, and supporting the police who were investigating to uncover a number of facts.

“If people have driving experience that is not pleasing, we would like to immediately report it to the authorities and customer service of Grab,” Ridzki added.

Previously reported, a student in Palembang claimed to be a victim of robbery and sexual harassment carried out by online taxi driver GrabCar on Friday (05/04/2018) around 10:00 WIB. AN (19) victims who were registered as residents of Ilir Timur II Subdistrict, Palembang, reported the case to Palembang Police on Saturday (5/5/2018).

AN admitted, initially he ordered an online taxi to go to the campus from Lemabang Market to the Plaju area.

However, while in front of the Charitas Hospital, Palembang, the vehicle the victim was riding suddenly turned out of the intended direction. AN who was suspicious had asked the driver to stop.

Suddenly, one other actor came out of the back seat and immediately grabbed and fondled the victim. In fact, the victim’s hand was also injured with a razor blade. The perpetrators also took the victim’s cellphone.
