Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Online taxi discourse to be excluded from even-odd restrictions in Jakarta is still being evaluated by both the central government and the DKI Jakarta provincial government.

The Head of the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ), Bambang Prihartono said that at this time the suggestion to exclude online taxis from restrictions on vehicles with odd-even police numbers is still being evaluated.

“We will see it later, we are evaluating it, we will invite the Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency [Syafrin Liputo] and we will work together to find a solution next week,” he said, Friday (08/16/2019).

He further explained that currently the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is focusing on conducting trials and socialization on the expansion of odd-even restrictions, so that the exclusion of online taxis is still in process.

However, he cautioned that efforts to reduce congestion and pollution in the form of vehicle restrictions are not to disrupt the activities of community movements, and moreover the economy in the capital.

Previously, the Online Driver Association (ADO) or the online taxi drivers’ association objected to the expansion even odd restrictions zone in 16 points of DKI Jakarta area. ADO hopes to be equated with a yellow plate taxi in general that is freed from even odd numbers.

ADO proposes to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, as an online taxi marker, a sticker issued by the Police to an online taxi that meets the requirements in accordance with Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 118/2018 concerning Special Leased Transportation.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially announced the expansion of odd-even zones at 16 points on the capital’s road and extended even-odd hours in the afternoon, which was originally at 16.00-20.00 WIB, to 16.00 – 21.00 WIB.

In addition, this policy also removes the exclusion zone, from the toll gate to the nearest intersection and from the intersection to the nearest toll gate.
