TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM – Conflicts between conventional taxi drivers and online taxis in Batam City are endless.

The related parties are also considered to have not acted decisively on the issue.

Some time ago, there was a commotion between online taxi drivers and conventional taxis in the Batam Center area, Batam City.

Because of that commotion, an online taxi driver became the victim of a beating until he had to be hospitalized at Graha Hermine Hospital Batu Aji Batam City.

Opsnal Team III Subdit Jatanras Ditreskrimum Riau Islands Police, Opsnal Barelang Police and Batam City Police moved quickly on residents’ reports.

They secured one of the perpetrators of a beating against an online taxi driver on Saturday (1/18/2020).

Police Chief of Police, Dirreskrimum Kombes Pol Arie Dharmanto conveyed, the beatings occurred on Wednesday (1/15/2020) in front of the Mega Mall of Batam City.

This was based on the Police Report no: LP-B / 47 / I / 2020 / SPKT-Resta Barelang, dated January 15, 2020 with the victim BR.

Arie explained, the beating incident began when the victim was contacted by his friend and said he was confronted by a conventional taxi driver at the Mega Mall Batam parking exit.

“The victim came intending to break up, but the three perpetrators hit the victim on the lips, nose and stomach so he had to be hospitalized and treated at Graha Hermine Batu Aji Batam City, “said Arie.

Arie said, following up on the incident the Opsnal Team conducted a search of the perpetrators and after the search, the team managed to secure one of the three identified actors.

The perpetrator who was successfully secured the initials AMH and two other perpetrators are still in the People’s Search List (DPO).

Next AMH was taken to Batam City Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Never Being Deterrent, Conventional Taxis and Online Taxis in Batam Clash Again, Incidents Happen at Batam Center

“The problem is still the same. Because of picking up passengers,” one of the online taxi drivers, Indra told the Batam Tribune.

In fact, said Indra again, his colleague had been hit by a raw punch from one person.

He explained, the incident began when his colleague would pick up passengers around the mall area.

However, not long ago, a crowd of conventional taxis came to block them so that the bickering was unavoidable.

Whereas before, the Transportation Department of the Riau Islands Province said both parties would be reassembled to discuss the red zone case or the passenger pick-up point.

A Driver is Taken to the Hospital

Bickering mouth to physical fighting colored the commotion between conventional taxis and online taxis in Batam, Wednesday (1/15/2020).

As told by an online taxi driver, Indra, his partner had to be rushed to the Awal Bros Batam Hospital.

“The one who got hit, his name is Bobi. “There are quite serious injuries, and there are other friends who also got a little, minor injuries,” he explained to the Batam Tribune.

According to him, the online taxi itself will report the matter to Batam City Police (Polsek).

“Still waiting for the victim (Bobi). But we will make a report,” he continued.
