TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM – Acting Governor of the Riau Islands, H Isdianto asked a number of parties to be patient when touched on the conflict between online and conventional taxis in Batam City, Riau Islands Province.
He said he was preparing a formula related to the conflict. Isdianto said that his party would hold discussions with all parties to find a solution.
“This is a result of each maintaining its ego where Conventional taxis feel that they are the ones that first existed and have been around for a long time. While online taxis are also trying to make a living, “said Isdianto, Saturday (1/18/2020).
Isdianto admitted, to solve the problem requires time. He also explained that his party was currently in communication with both parties.
“I am waiting for the results, the staff will have an audience with both parties in the field. If it is already, we will bring the results together. I have also conveyed the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (FKPD) to formulate this problem,” he said.
Batam City DPRD Commission III member Thomas Arihta Sembiring previously asked the police to continue the alleged case of persecutors against online taxis in Batam.
This PDIP politician said, this incident tarnished the authority of transportation in the city of Batam.
The commotion between online taxis and conventional taxis re-occurred around the mall area in Batam Center, Wednesday (1/15/2020).
“If today’s tolerance is given. Tomorrow it will definitely happen (clash) again, and so on. So this must be the attention of the Police,” he said, Sunday (1/19/2020). He also regretted the attitude of the Riau Islands Provincial Government in this case the Department of Transportation (Dishub) of the Riau Islands which seemed to be silencing this prolonged conflict.
According to him, if the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 118 of 2018 regarding the Implementation of Special Lease Transportation must be enforced and not just go away.
“When it has been tapped, the region must immediately enact it. The legislation must be in accordance with Law Number 12 of 2011. If the ministerial regulation is down, the region must also make a derivative,” he said.
Thomas also regretted the commotion between the two had to cause one online taxi driver seriously injured.
“Regulation 118 of 2018 is already valid. It means that online taxis have been recognized. If then there are parties who carry out social tensions or tend to criminal acts, the authorities must step down and investigate thoroughly for this case,” he said.
The polemic between conventional taxis and online taxis in Batam became the attention of the Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda).
