The operating hours are lacking. Online taxi driver performance decreases and affects the bonus.

Gojek and Grab’s online taxi driver partners complain that revenue has fallen due to an even-odd policy that has expanded its scope. Besides being unable to take orders in certain areas, their performance has the potential to decline.

One GrabCar driver, Angky Eko Basuni (40 years), said his income decreased 10-15% due to the Jakarta Transportation Department’s policy. “It is reduced by around Rp 100,000 to Rp 150 thousand per day,” he told, Monday (9/16).

To get around this, Angky usually operates in an area where even odd odd rules are not applied. Moreover, the Grab system automatically prevents itself from getting orders in areas that do not match the license plate of the vehicle.

In addition, Angky chose certain times to avoid even odd policies. Even though these things have been done, Angky has to increase working hours in order to meet her income targets.

“I will not go home before I can get Rp 700 thousand (per day). Because I have to meet operational needs and for those who are at home every day,” he said.

The same thing was conveyed by another GrabCar Driver Partner, Royke (44 years). He said that his income fell due to the even odd rules that were expanded. However, he was reluctant to mention the amount of the decline.

He hoped, the DKI Jakarta provincial government would review the regulation. “We are taxi drivers online, our office is in the car so it’s quite noticeable (decreased revenue),” he said.

Similar conditions are experienced by GoCar Driver Partners. Sugiharto (30 years old), for example, recorded his income fell by 50% due to the even odd expansion.

The decline occurred because he could not operate at certain hours. “If (at its discretion) is odd, it can take passengers at 1 pm. But, at 3 pm already entered the ‘cage’. So it’s limited, “he said.

On the other side, he knew that the Gojek system did not yet support even-odd expansion policies. As a result, performance could be down
if you refuse an order which if the trip is within the scope of these rules.

“If the passengers understand, when canceling the order, they say it’s not because of the driver’s request. However, there are also those who say that is the driver who wants to cancel the order, so the performance drops, “he said. In fact, performance affects the bonus it receives.

However, a different matter was conveyed by another GoCar Driver Partner, Wahyudin (45 years). He said that being an online taxi driver was a side job. Therefore, even odd policies do not have much effect on him.

“Take effect (to income), but not much. Because (being an online taxi driver only) is a side job, “Wahyudin said.

The even-odd policy expansion took effect since September 9. This rule has also been tested from 12 August to 6 September 2019. This regulation passes every working day, from 06.00-10.00 and 16.00-21.00 WIB.

This policy was established by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan through Governor Instruction Number 66 Year 2019 regarding air quality control. The regulation contains seven steps in an effort to improve air quality in the capital. One of them, expanding the scope of even odd policies.

There are 16 new roads that will implement the regulation. “If previously there were nine roads that were evenly applied, now it has increased to 25,” Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, in a press release at the City Hall of DKI Jakarta, some time ago (7/8).

An odd even system is also applied to intersections from and to the toll gate. So, when vehicles from outside the area leading to the toll gate are applied, this provision still applies. “If there were exceptions before, that has been abolished,” said Syafrin.
