TRIBUNJATENG.COM, SEMARANG – A happy atmosphere emanated from the faces of the couple Daniel Chandra and Silvy Margaretha Radsmawan, parents of a baby born on the way to Wilasa Citarum Hospital in Semarang while in Grab Car, named Eliezer Aaron Chandra.

Daniel revealed, the incident occurred on Wednesday (09/25/2019), starting when Silvy felt a contraction in her stomach.

Realizing that, Daniel immediately ordered a Grab Car to go to the Panti Wilasa Citarum Hospital in Semarang. Incidentally the driver is their own neighbor, named Liem Eddy Martono.

On the way to the hospital, the trip was stalled because of congestion due to the train not running for an hour.

“Right at BRI Bubakan, my wife’s membranes broke and my child’s head had started to appear. In the end my wife gave birth assisted by mother-in-law and my Grab partner also helped. After the birth, I continue the trip to the hospital still using the same Grab, “Daniel said, when met, Sunday (10/27/2019).

Meanwhile, Eliezer’s mother, Silvy, never thought that she would give birth to her second child on the way to the hospital using Grab Car.

She also did not have any inkling before, but when she saw the traffic jammed on the road plus the train being stopped, there is a feeling that will give birth in the car.

“I thank the Grab, because it is very helpful especially for those of us who do not have a personal vehicle so they can get to their destination quickly. Especially when an emergency such as that I experienced,” he said.

Grab Community Engagement Partner, Harli Wicaksono Utomo, representing 4W Grab City Manager in Central Java, Abriyani Muharomah Juharta said that she helped in the handling of documents and thanksgiving for babies born on a trip using Grab or called Grab Baby.

“Yesterday the baby’s parents had difficulty taking care of the birth certificate, because giving birth was not in the hospital but in the vehicle. So, we were here to help with the processing of documents and as a form of our service to the community,” Harli explained.

The similar cases of childbirth at Grab Car, have previously occurred in other areas in Yogyakarta, Makassar, Manado, Bali, Bandung, Malang, and Semarang.

“We hope that the assistance provided is useful and with this incident, can foster a sense of concern among fellow human beings. As for baby Eliezer, hopefully be a useful child for the nation and make the parents proud,” he hoped.

Grab Car driver, Liem Eddy Martono, who was at the location and helped Silvy when she was about to give birth, claimed to be trembling because it was the first time she was in that condition.

The experience might be classified as brief but it will not be forgotten.

“After the baby came out, I continued my journey to the destination hospital with trembling. After arriving, the baby was demoted first before the mother. “Because the condition of my car is dirty, so it is automatically taken to the car wash and returned to home because it is not concentrated to get more passengers,” said Eddy.
