Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Budi Setiadi, revealed some of the tough challenges while working under the direction of the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi. One of them is when he had to intervene to take care of regulations regarding online taxis.
“Online is one of the phenomena that occurred in 2017 and we made regulations 3 times until finally it was completed. This is a tough challenge for me,” he said when met at his office, Jakarta, Thursday (12/5/2019).
According to him, it’s not easy to make a rule which concerns the living needs of many people. Especially online taxis is a new job opportunities,
so it must be really good in making the right policies that are mutually beneficial.
Several times, in making policies Budi also invited and involved related associations. It was considered appropriate to hear various inputs from outside parties. According to him, pattern like this which makes every policy he has made is acceptable.
“Ministerial Regulation No. 188 the last thing we have done until now, online taxis is only a few, all that’s left is to convey it to the community. Now it is acceptable, “he said
Not only that, another tough challenge is when asked to make a regulation that handles motorcycle taxi online. Because there is no regulation, so he must ask for input from various working partners.
“If it has to be regulated it’s dangerous, because the number of accidents that occur is involving motorcycles. Finally, there is one thing, we create a team, the pattern is the same, we involve the association, there are two regulations, input echelon 1, if I may have to say the two regulations are quite conducive, “he explained.

Previously, GoJek officially served passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport through the Instant Gocar feature. The fleet used is a car incorporated in the Main Prosperous Ligat Cooperative (MAESA).
Comment on that matter, Director of Road Transportation Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Ahmad Yani, hopes that similar features can be implemented immediately at other airports.
“Actually I have been waiting for the time when the Go-Car will enter the airport, not only Soekarno-Hatta Airport but at the other airports Gocar must be available, “he said at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, on Tuesday 10 September 2019.
He mentioned the existence of online taxis at the airport could be an alternative choice of public transportation. Therefore, it is hoped that similar services will be available at the other airports.
He revealed that this matter has long been a discussion between the Ministry of Transportation and the applicator. It also continues to experience development in its discussion.
“So far we escort two large applicators, one of them is Go-Car. I am very happy that the Go-Car has entered the first airport in Soekarno-Hatta, and then the others are at Halim, in Palembang, Pekan Baru, Medan, hopefully this can be done to expand this service network as an alternative transportation, “he said.
“In Angkasa Pura II there are 17 airports whose access must be served by an alternative transportation like this, “he added.
