, BATAM – Head of the Batam City Transportation Agency (Kadishub), Rustam Efendi, urged the Riau Islands Provincial Government to immediately issue operational licenses for online taxis in Batam City, Thursday (10/31/2019).

According to Rustam, his party did not want the commotion caused by the problem of online taxi permits in Batam continuing to drag on.

“Batam, its income from tourism and industry. If it continues to be noisy, the situation will become less safe and conducive,” he said when met at the Batam City Transportation Agency.

In addition, Rustam said, regarding the online taxi permit itself is the authority of the Riau Islands Provincial Government, in this case the Riau Islands Transportation Department (Dishub).

He hoped that both the Acting Governor of Riau Islands, Isdianto, and related parties could immediately address the issue of the issuance of this permit as soon as possible.

“The negative impact if the noise of online taxis continue to occur will certainly be felt in Batam City. Because, so many taxis online here. We are not unwilling to be responsible, the authority is in the Province, “he said.

What Rustam said was in accordance with the applicable rules, namely Ministerial Regulation Number 118 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Special Lease Transportation.

In fact, this regulation has changed several times due to the online taxi polemic.

“From 2016 until now. The coordination meeting of each party continued, but the meeting ended with no results. And then the commotion occurred again,” he complained.
